The WSOP Main Event final table, also known as the November Nine, will kick off in just a couple of day at the Rio in Las Vegas. This year’s final table is probably the strongest that it may have ever been since the poker boom started in 2003. There is only one true amateur at the table and we have one player who has a chance to tie for the WSOP Player of the Year. Here is how I think the final nine will do at the final table.
Your 2010 WSOP November Nine
Jason Senti is heading into the final table as the short stack. Historically, the short stack has not done very well at this final table, and there really isn’t anything about Senti’s game that hints that he will fare any better. Best finish for Senti will be 8th.
Soi Nguyen is the lone amateur at this final table. He also has the least experience over the rest of the table as he plays very infrequently. He does have some strong tutors in Nam Le and Chino Rheem, but I think his lack of experience will show at the final table. Best finish for Nguyen will be 7th.
Michael Mizrachi is always dangerous in any final table that he plays at. If this was 2006 and not 2010, I would make him the instant favorite. If Mizrachi can build himself up to 25 Million or more early, he will be a threat. I still feel that he has too big of a road to hoe to win this thing. Best finish for Mizrachi will be 4th place.
Filippo Candio is the “nice guy” of the final table. He has a solid resume, but he has not shown me enough to really consider him a threat. If he builds a stack, he has a shot to go deep, but I feel this is going to be a case of the nice guy finishing short of winning. He might finish in fifth, but I see Candio finishing in the same position he started the final table, 6th place.
Matt Jarvis is going to be the most dangerous type of player heading into the final table. He has two decent wins recently and in addition he is playing for his father who is battling cancer. This type of motivation makes any player dangerous. If he can go on a hot streak, he can win this thing, but I really see him finishing in 3rd place.
John Racener is fourth in chips heading into the final table, but outside of Mizrachi, he also has the most experience at this final. I think that Racener’s experience and recent play is strong enough to help him overcome the difference in chip should he not run into a cooler. I look for Racener to make heads-up for this event.
Joseph Cheong is 3rd in chips going into the final table and playing for his first significant score of his poker life. I think a combination of the pressure and the fact that he did not focus on the game as much as other players in the past will cost him the bracelet. I do think that he is solid enough to finish the event in 3rd place, and securing the biggest payday of his career.
Out of all the players at the final table, I see John Dolan as having the biggest chance of flaming out at the final table. His style has been pegged as relentlessly aggressive and I foresee players taking advantage of this. My gut tells me he is going to suffer some beats and probably finish in around 5th place.
Jonathan Duhamel enters the WSOP November Nine final table as the chip leader and I look for him to do much of the same that he did to get his spot at the table. While he was very aggressive at the final table bubble, he has shown a strong ability to switch gears at the right time. His massive chip lead is going to be hard to overcome short of him suffering some bad beats. I expect Duhamel to make it to heads-up in this event.
Heads-up play I predict to be between John Racener and Jonathan Duhamel. Unless heads-up play becomes to grossly lopsided affair, I expect Racener to chip away at Duhamel and eventually overtake him. In the end, I see Racener’s experience allowing him to run away with the WSOP bracelet and the nearly Million in prize money.
So there you have it. I am predicting John Racener to win the WSOP Main Event. Play kicks off on Saturday and we will know by the end of the day whether my predictions will hold any weight.
